but 作为连词，可以连接两个并列成分或两个并列分句，意为 “但是，然而”。例如：He is young but very experienced. 注意： but 不要与 though/although连用。例如下面的句子是错误的：Although he is young, but very experienced （grammatically wrong）.

therefore 意为 “因此”。该词本身是副词，但在句中起连接作用，一般不放句末。一是用在简单句句首或句中；在句首时，后面要有逗号。例如：Therefore, we must learn English well. 二是用在并列句中，其中一部分表示原因，一部分表示结果。例如：These birds are very beautiful and therefore liked by many people.
